Plantation Slavery

There can be many opinions about man . There can be many ideas about what or who he is . But everyone will agree that man was made to be free In the basic core of man one can feel the yearning for freedom Surprisingly there are also many ways that a man can feel caged , even if he is not behind bars

The history of the United States is full of the accounts of such yearnings to be unencumbered and be able [banner_entry_middle]

to express what are the passions of the heart . In fact this nation was birthed abruptly by way of a revolution as Americans banded together to throw the British yoke It is therefore difficult to understand that in the significant portion of American history , Americans tolerated and advocated the use of slaves . The irony of the man with white skin who would die for so that no other person or rule can tax them prohibitively is the same person who allow another human being although with black skin to toil like an animal in the field

This is the story found in the Stratford website of slavery where it chronicles the start of the evil slave trade from West Africa to America . The website then proceeded to describe how the African slaves were then traded like cattle . To be traded like a piece of meat is much better than dying along the way which is common in the horrible conditions in the ship . The said site recorded the horrible plight as the once free and proud Africans were even punished for singing inside the cargo hold of the boats

Most of the slaves were then sold to plantations and majority of them arrived in the summer months to coincide with the need for labor in the fields . This is when their hellish lives begin as slaves who bear children are automatically giving birth to lifetime slaves who have no control over their lives

In the little power that they have over their circumstance , slaves would often sabotage the plantation system . They would do so to get back at their mean taskmasters . Sabotage comes in the form of stealing tools resisting s , work slow-downs , sabotaging crops etc

The most difficult perhaps for the slaves is to see their children beginning to work . The site recorded that slave children at the tender age of ten are being initiated to the field during part-time labor

Plantation Slave Life

Plantation slave life is not a pleasant to talk about . It is not a part of American history that Americans can be proud of .
