Being a Man of Faith
With the dawn of post-modernism , more people now consider a life without religion or God , settling for personal philosophies or an integration of the already existing major philosophies like Buddhism and Taoism among others . Whereas wars have been fought in the name of religion , it seems that the importance of religion has declined . Indeed religion is not a prerequisite to be able to live in modern society marriages , births , and deaths can be processed and get done and over with [banner_entry_middle]
the State , with the Church providing an option if you are a practicing religious . Even if this is the case , I strongly believe that it is better for an individual to be a man of faith , to be a passionate believer in God , whether it is as a Jew , a Muslim , or a Protestant rather than to be an atheist . It is understandable why people shrink away from religion after all , with all the differing religions in the world claiming they have the blessing and grace of the one true God , its supremacy makes up for a rather weak argument when the God in question so obviously lets other supposed gods ‘ to co-exist with him resulting in a lack of the religion ‘s power to convince people to believe . However , if this is the case , why does religion continue to exist even in modern times ? And beyond the question of its prevalence what moves peoples and nations to fight so passionately for their faith The answer , I believe , is because faith moves and inspires peoples to be more than they are . I am a Catholic and I live as a Catholic , and I believe that being a man of faith will translate into firmer principles and code of ethics , more loving relationships and stronger family values , and ultimately a more fulfilling life . This is not to say that person who does not believe in God cannot have these , but I do think that a person who does not have God ‘s guidance might spend his life working to achieve the things that are important to him only to find that his time has run out
This is also not to say that an atheist does not have any spirituality to speak of it is possible to have a strong sense of morality and ethics even without religion . In fact , people who do not want to bind themselves to any particular religion and its teachings because they do not believe in the idea of a God either align themselves with some form of major philosophy such as Taoism and Buddhism , or else make up their own philosophic system , their own way of living . It is a difficult and arduous process , to sift through all the religions in the world and find that they exist out of a human need – to explain the world and the universe , to know the reason of why we are here .
