Nowadays privacy is one of the most difficult legal questions of e-commerce companies . Many web sites do not have the aim to actively collect data about their users . Nevertheless , these web sites collect personal information that is actively supplied by users and can be identified . Some pages on the web site may require a person to provide his /her name , physical and e-mail addresses , phone number , and credit card information through forms . This information is usually used for contacting a person with regard to the purchase or some advertisement [banner_entry_middle]

br It is necessary to note that these sites keep the client ‘s personal data confidential and do not share any details of the client ‘s transactions with any third party . Besides , these web sites never disclose , share distribute or sell the client ‘s personal information under any circumstances . Moreover , they enforce strict guidelines regarding all the information about their customers

In addition to the active transmission of the personal information by the customer , there exists the passive collection of the data by the web server that automatically registers such data about each client ‘s visit as IP address , browser type , operating system and time of the visit

When you do shopping on the Internet , you can never be 100 sure of your privacy as every web site has its own privacy policy and its own security level . Thus , there has been worked out the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA . The section 2511 of the ECPA states that `interception and disclosure of wire , oral , or electronic communications is prohibited . [1] However , the main obstacle to using the Electronic Communications Privacy Act in to reduce the number of online profiling is that it has no force if the users agree to the present state of things on the web site . Summarizing , the e-commerce is very convenient but it presents new challenges and requires new laws for protecting the customer ‘s information
