Response of the Vice-President of International Sales to the Discussion Board

My first task as the Vice-President of International Sales at the Physical Movement Company is to assign to my diverse and talented team of assistant managers the job of creating business reports for all the countries that our company is planning to sell its products to . I want my dedicated assistant managers to find out everything they possibly can about the social customs of each nation , the concept of time in each country where we will sell our products , the political [banner_entry_middle]

patterns in the nations , and much more . Each one of my assistant managers would be researching at least two countries . Those who have been residents of certain nations that we intend to do international business with would be expected to deliver more , both in terms of information and final results , with special reference to the countries where these assistant managers have spent parts of their lives

We want to know everything about the international marketing and sales environment in the country we interact with . We have to know about its food and clothing , workforce diversity , religion and folk beliefs , economic and business institutions , and ethics , values and laws . I believe that all of this information is a necessity for creating an effective international sales strategy . And this is exactly what I would expect my managers to create after the relevant information is gathered . Our international sales strategy would include an international sales plan for the first year

Since each of my assistant managers would be working with me on at least two countries , the manager whose job it is to research Germany and Austria , for example , would also be working with me on the international sales strategy for the two countries . Our international sales forecast

is expected to be realistic . And , to ensure that we apply our gathered information in an appropriate manner as well , we would be using the Hofstede graphs depicting the Dimension scores for each country ( Geert Hofstede Cultural Dimenstions

I believe that using such measurable terms in each of our activities would give us the confidence we require to enter the international markets successfully . With a broad understanding of and clear focus on each country that we plan to do business with , our company is on its way to generate revenues throughout the world
