Nature of sexual behavior of the gay exposes them to diseases like anal cancer , Chlamydia trachomatis cryptosporidium , Giardia Lamblia , Herpes simplex virus , Human immuno-deficiency virus , Human papilloma virus , Gonorrhea , Syphilis , and Viral hepatitis type B C . Parasitic and intestinal infection among the gay are extremely high due to oral anal contact which in medical literature is termed as Gay Bowel Syndrome . Other physical problems which can be encountered by gay are hemorrhoids , anal fissures anorectal trauma and retained foreign bodies

Gay population continues to be most affected by HIV infection and AIDS HIV prevention efforts can reduce sexual risk factors . Sexual behaviors and risk reduction strategies of HIV positive gay population are complex and dependent on many factors including partners relationship and perceived serostatus . Open and honest communication between partners about sexual issues is vital to avoid false assumption about a partner ‘s HIV serostatus .
