And with the inclusion of what is known as greater New York , that being the surrounding areas of Brooklyn , The Bronx , Manhattan , Queens and Staten Island , the population exceeds fifteen million residents . As far as population , ethnic diversity and historical impact , no other city in North America can rival the achievements of New York City . Those are the reasons why I chose New York City
